Professor of Design 3 in the Design course. She graduated in architecture in Florence with Pierluigi Spadolini, and trained with a European scholarship in Jean Nouvel’s studio in Paris. She founded the aria-d studio in Rome, which deals in an integrated way with architectural recovery, retail, set-up and product design. She created some of the trendiest places in Rome such as Acquanegra, Propaganda Caffè and Madeleine. She collaborated with the Lazio Region for international exhibitions. She worked on the Different retail project for Linkem with points of sale throughout Italy. She teaches at La Sapienza with a workshop for the design of public spaces. She taught for several years at AANT, also taking care of the coordination of the Design course and at the Quasar institute for Design, interior design and history of design.

He is the founder of TWM Factory, a creative studio made up of Millennials that works through exhibitions, urban regeneration and publishing activities. Among his projects: The Walkman Magazine, a research and reflection webzine; Roma Smistamento, a creative space born from the redevelopment of disused railway offices; Young Creatives, multidisciplinary celebration of emerging talent and Italian cultural heritage. Degree in Sociology of Communication and a Masters in Business Management. He has collaborated with leading consulting firms, treating, among others, clients such as Poste Italiane and Automobile Club d ’Italia. For the Pantheon Institute he is a professor of advertising communication, fundamentals of cultural marketing, public relations. He has had teaching positions at the IED in Rome and collaborations with ISIA Roma Design for the organization of conferences and events. Since 2004, he has mainly worked in the architecture sector, taking care of the communication and external relations of retail companies, developing in particular cultural dissemination projects (publishing, cinema, TV and web), events and workshops with a systemic and transdisciplinary approach. On behalf of cultural institutes, he deals with the conception and curation of events such as, for example, the international exhibition “In Viaggio con Calvino” in 2013, which, on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of Italo Calvino’s birth, proposed initiatives and events in collaboration with the Casa dell’Architettura in Rome and other institutions, celebrating the great intellectual in Rome, Castiglione della Pescaia and Havana.

Giuliana Benassi
Biography
Giuliana Benassi (Forlì, 1984) lives and works in Rome. She is an independent curator and art historian. She graduated in Art History at the University of Pisa. She focused her research on the relationship between a work of art and an exhibition space, with particular attention to the “site-specific” concept. The investigation into the genesis of the work of art in non-conventional exhibition spaces is the basis of a curatorial and theoretical approach that favors a reflection on the complex dynamics that link the work, the space and the public to each other. She teaches History of Contemporary Art at the Pantheon Institute in Rome / Milan and also teaches at the IED in Florence. She is an Art Advisor at the American Academy in Rome. She is co-founder and director of the There Is No Place Like Home project with which she received the Artribune Prize for Contemporary Art in 2017. She curates the ALT – Contemporary Art column for the newspaper “Il Manifesto”. She has been the curator of the “Hand Portrait” artistic residence since 2014. She writes for the art magazines Rivista Segno and Exibart, and has collaborated with various institutions and associations including: Laboratory of the Mind Museum, Istituto Svizzero, artQ13 Rome; Lac or Le Mon Lecce Foundation; MAMbo in Bologna; Follemente Festival Teramo; Italian Cultural Institute London. She has edited books for the NERO, Viaindustriae and Palombi publishing cases.

She works as a Landscape Architect, has a PhD in “History, Design and Restoration of Architecture”, and is a specialist in “Architectural and Landscape Heritage” as well as “Natural and Territorial Heritage”. Over the years she has been teaching Green Design at the Quasar Design University of Rome and has collaborated in the “Monument Restoration” Laboratory Course of the University ‘La Sapienza’ of Rome, for which she was co-supervisor in several theses on the restoration of the landscape and historic gardens. Her research focuses on the requalification of the landscape, the recovery and enhancement of naturalistic areas, and European projects; she has participated in numerous design competitions and has been a speaker at national and international conferences. She has also designed and created numerous ephemeral artistic installations: among the awarded projects “History and Colors in a fragment of Landscape” (Pordenone, 2012), “U Jardinu, reflections in the garden” (Rome and Pantelleria, 2014), “La Grande Zolla “Towards the Clouds (Rome, 2016).

She won the young researchers award at the VII edition of the International scientific conference of Neuroethics in Padua. She collaborated with the CNR of Rome, dealing with research in the field of Experimental Philosophy, and with the CNR of Milan for the Design4all project, thanks to a scholarship in “Expert in human / machine interaction”.
